Emily Miazga’s Professional Bio
I grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada and was always running, and making my energising “power cookies” that I needed as a sporty kid. I love nutrition and eating healthy, and have been a vegetarian since age 12.
I went on to attend Mankato State University in MN to study Dietetics and ran on a track/cc scholarship. From there, I went on to complete my Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetic internship at the University of Central OK.
I took a job as a Registered Dietitian in Eugene, OR and this is where I fell in love with the mountains and multisport, starting with triathlon and Xterra. I travelled around the world from 2002-2004 and got into adventure racing proper, and this is what led me to NZ to race the Coast to Coast. My first experience at C2C in 2004 was harrowing. Two-thirds of the field in Longest Day pulled out of the race due to flooding rivers or hypothermia. Only 3 women finished the Longest Day that year, and I was the 3rd! I was hooked.
I also discovered that my “power cookies” were the perfect fuel for this type of racing. I wanted to share them and inspire people to make healthy food choices so I started Em’s Power Cookies as a business. I continued racing Coast to Coast until 2011 when I retired from competitive sport. I used my racing as a way to prove my power cookies worked for sport, and this helped with Em’s brand credibility.
I live on the West Coast of the South Island with my husband Mitch and lazy house rabbit named Houdina.
Em’s Power Cookies makes a range of nutritious and delicious Cookies, Bars, Power Bites and we are very proud to be the first company in NZ to sell Hemp Protein Cookies!
